Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish

'Good riddance to bad rubbish' was the phrase a childhood friend would use when I would leave. He would always pull my leg. I would get mad at him all the time. However, now that I think about it, that phrase had a much deeper meaning to it.

At several junctures in life you feel this phrase holds so true. You just wanna get rid off, get free from from certain things. Once you are away from those, feels like a great relief. There was so much thrash that annoyed you, you just couldn't shrug it off. And now suddenly the day seems better, fresher and happier once you are done with it.

The brighter side of all the shit happening around you is... you build up a level of endurance. The nonsense happening all the while gives you that strength and stability of mind that, you can face much more. You are ready to bear more in future. On the flip side, you wonder why all the crap is occurring to you. Why cant life be simple?

Well, thats life I guess. You gotta deal with it! But like every cloud has a silver lining, theres always good riddance to bad rubbish.

Keep Smiling! :-)

yes, it is indeed a great feeling of "rebirth" when one leaves behind old worries and moves on. It is not an easy thing to do but it is usually necessary. And with time every wound heals & mistakes are forgiven/forgotten.

Forget the past, Don't worry about the future & Enjoy the present.

Its interesting when u say "Why cant life be simple?"...I wish it was, but as humans we have a tendency to make simple things complex and then find solutions to it and then go about celebrating...But I guess that is the essence of it all...
Bahut ho gayi philosophy...BTW I like this phrase...have heard it b4 but never paid much heed to it.

An addendum to Kavin's comment:
"Life is really simple, but men insist on making it complicated."
--Confucius

@Kavin, life, by itself, may be simple but human nature is not. Man is a social animal. Hence relationships are complex which adds the complexity to life. Finally it all depends on one's perspective and what they value in life.

Not sure if we make things that way, or are they complex in themselves. But sometimes you just get entangled in the maze, for no fault of yours. However, as I said before: the feeling of reincarnation is eternal bliss.

hmm... It wont be your fault, but sometimes bad things might happen to you. While it is a great feeling to leave those unpleasant experiences behind, it is equally important to look back on those as a learning experience. Thats life.

I believe that everything that happens happens for the best. So those unpleasant memories may have some unexpected good consequences in the long run.
