The thing I miss the most being away from home is 'Maa ke haath ka khaana'
(My mom is gonna kill me for this. She'll say, "khaava maate hoon yaad aavu chu... nahi toh hoon kaun" :-P {You remember me only for food... otherwise do u care} )

Winter Delicacies:
Undhyu {Mixed-vegetable, but a different preparation... cant describe it better. The name says it all ;)}
Ringana no Olo ane bajra na rotla {Baigan Bharta and Bajra bread}
Adadiya paak {a sweet which is specially prepared for cold weather}
Parvad nu bharelu shaak {stuffed Parvad}
Gaajar/Dudhi halwo {Carrots/Dudhi pie}
Paatra {Aloo-wadi, dont know any other word for it :-P}
Mom would say that the vegetables, green leafy vegetables & fruits grew best in winter.
Summer Authentic food:
Keri no rass {Mango pulp}
Gunda nu shaak {Gunda is another vegetable, pickle can also be made from it}
Keri no fajeto {A daal prepared with a little mango juice in it}
Dhokla ane lasan ni chutney {Dhokla with garlic sauce}
Food in summer is always centered around the king of fruits 'Mango'.
Monsoon Relish:
Garam bhajia {Vegetable Tempuras served hot}
Batata wada {Potato balls deep-fried}
Methi ni bhaji na gota {fenugreek & gram flour balls deep-fried}
Hot and sour soup/ vegetable soup
Hakka noodles
Any good food served hot on a rainy day, seems like a blessing.

Oh man...kitna kuch yaad aa gayaa.. so typical of a Gujju cuisine...yahan pe aake to ye sab bhool hi gayaa thaa ki hum log aisi aisi cheeze khaate the..:(
